Two cases were brought to the High Court as two passengers flying in from Israel, believed they were being held unlawfully in mandatory hotel quarantining. Israel has recently been removed from the list of countries which require mandatory quarantining on arrival to the State as a vast amount of their population have been vaccinated. The pair have since been permitted to leave the mandatory quarantine. It was reported that one of the passengers has been Vaccinated and received two negative COVID-19 tests in advance of her arrival in the State.

Passengers who arrive into Ireland and refuse to quarantine in a Hotel or who exit the Hotel with the appropriate permissions during the period of quarantine are liable to a fine of up €2000 or a possible one month in prison.
